In 2013, the Association for Asian American Studies became the first academic association to adopt a boycott of Israeli academic institutions. Since then, anti-Israel resolutions have become more common in academic organizations throughout the humanities and social sciences as well as in some professional associations. Such attacks on academic freedom do nothing to advance peace and dialogue, and instead, create obstacles to coexistence.
Israel Action Network (IAN) has been active in this space since 2013, developing, supporting and growing a collective of advocates across multiple disciplines to counter attacks on Israel’s legitimacy and strengthen academic exchange. We identify and coordinate faculty and other professionals, fostering relationships and creating essential resources to further their engagement and support.
